Exclamation Battery problem

Hi, I have been having a problem with my battery. It is kind of weird... well okay it is really weird.

My battery on my Axim X5 Basic drains like a normal battery would until it gets to about 60% (not sure on the number, just an estimate, it might be 80%) and then when it gets to that point it drops like a stone. You can watch the battery drain like a countdown. I have had this problem for a few days now (hoping it goes away) and I decided to ask you guys.

I have tried a soft reset, and am willing to try a hard reset, but I wanted to ask you before I do something stupid.

I have had the problem with and without cards in the Axim.

Thanks!!!

Are you connected via a non-Dell USB cable at the time? Most of these are listed as 'charge/sync' cable but the charging is iffy at best. Most PC USB ports do not put out enough power (100mA is all that's required by the standards) to adequately charge the power-hungry Axim. People (including myself) have seen the battery drain like this through these cables when the Axim reaches a certain power level (60-80% is typical).

If this doesn't address your particular situation, then I'm afraid I have no other ideas.

No I am not, I am using the one that came with the unit. Thank you though. I no know I might want to consider trying a new power cord before trying buying a new battery if it gets that far.

(A lot cheaper if it works.)

Does this mean you're using the Dell supplied AC Charger or the Dell supplied USB/Sync Cable?

Because even Dell's USB Cable will do this, Dell doesn't even state that their USB Cable can be used for charging.

Is your Axim in the cradle doing this discharge?

If so is your Axim plugged into the cradle and BOTH the usb and AC power adapter are both plugged in?

I am using the Dell supplied standard charger. It is an Axim Basic, and I do not have the cradle for it. When it discharges it does it anywhere.
