Dell Foldable Keyboard (correction)
I recently purchased the Aximx5 standard, along with a foldable keyboard (Dell v2.07, build 0616 manufactured by Darfon Electronics Corp). When I use the up/down and left/right buttons, the foldable keyboard is disabled and the only way to have it enabled again is to do so by either a soft reset and / or manually through Start/Programs/Foldable Keyboard/Enable Keyboard option. The use of Shift + right/left/up/down arrows also freezes the use of the foldable keyboard.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the foldable keyboard software on the Axim, but to no avail. Is there a way to use the up/down and left/right arrow buttons without disabling the use of the folable keyboard? Many Thanks

2 foldable dell KB's later and it still freezes
Your not alone dude,
I've got two foldable Dell Keyboards - One is the original Rev A01, and the latest one they sent me (as a replacement under warantee) is Rev A02. The keyboards look exactly alike (physically) - if not for the different barcode/Serialz...I couldn't tell them apart. The first keyboard doesn't work at all anymore... yet the Axim X5 chimes when I connect it - and it shows the keyboard is "enabled". The second one works awesome up until I hit one of the arrow keys while typing (in word or calendar). Then it freezes (untill I soft reset to get things moving again). Whats interesting to note, is the first keyboard did this too - before it died completely. And secondly the arrow keys work when navigating menus and games. Its only in word processing/text entry they cause the axim to freeze. I wish they'd update the drivers to work this bug out. ![]()

My foldable keyboard works fine. It worked well with PPC 2002 and, after updating the drivers, with WM 2003.
What OS are y'all using? And, pardon the dumb question, but have you downloaded the latest drivers from the Dell website? The ones on the CD are likely to be outdated.

I have tried two different Axim x5's with two different Dell foldable keyboards using Pocket Windows 2003 and the recommended drivers. Still the arrow buttons cause the keyboard to freeze. Is there anyone that

Sorry to read that you are still having keyboard trouble! I have an X5 advanced running WM 2003 and use the foldable keyboard pretty much every day. I have the foldable keyboard driver V2.06 (build 0529), and my arrow keys (and the rest of the keys, for that matter) work fine.

I did not use any previous drivers, because this is a brand new axim x5 and foldable keyboard and Latitude D505 notebook. I do not use any third party applications either. I find when I do a hard reset and activesync all data except my calendar info, the foldable keyboard works fine. To my mind, there must be some conflict between MS Outlook 2002 and the Axim 5.
Please, someone help. Thanks.

X5 using X3 Foldable drivers on WM2003
I just downloaded the X3 Foldable keyboard driver for my X5... uninstalled the X5 version first... seems to work better.
While in pOutlook I can now use the arrow keys without the PPC freezing. Althought its not perfect cause it did freeze once. After a soft reset it was fine again. I'd REALLY like to know why the X3 drivers are more stable than the X5 drivers for the foldable keyboards??? Sloppy programming is my reply. L8tr.

I erased all appointments in Calendar and uninstalled Outlook from my notebook and performed hard reset on my Axim. I then re-entered all appointments manually on my axim. It took me half a day, but somehow the keyboard seems to be working fine now. Amazing. I would blame sloppy programming (Axim calendar, dell keyboard driver, activesync). I am amazed I could solve this problem on my own, I wonder what Dell technical support is there for? I got no technical info from them whatsoever. Anyhow, should have gone with a palm instead, like all my friends. Thanks everyone for your help.

Keyboard related question. First, thanks for all the tips as mine has been doing the same with the keys.
Do want to know if anyone is having problems with Excel and the keyboard. When I use the external keyboard, the onscreen keyboard keeps coming on even though I keep clicking the keyboard icon in the corner so it doesn't show. Takes up a lot of screen space.
