Go to Add or Remove Programs in your Control Panel and remove Active Sync like that. After you've done that, go to the dir you've installed Active Sync and delete the WHOLE folder. (It only worked for me when I did that). Then check out that in the Device Manager, no driverz are installed for the Axim if you use USB.
When you got through that, start over with the install procedure. UNPLUG the cradle first, then install the software from the cd, and plug the cradle back in with your Axim on it.
A hard reset fixed it.
but the back up of info I had caused it to loose the connection again.
Thankfully the files I was saving I had made on pc.
So it appears something in the settings of previous backup was kerfluy
My sync problem is that it connects with the PC and ActiveSync appears and begins loading, displays the Information Typesl and then disconnects. In addition, I cannot get my Axim 5 to hard reset. No matter how long I push the reset button.
you have to push the reset button and the power button at the same time and hold it for 2 seconds then it will ask you to press this for hard reset or press this to contine loading.
or you can pull both batteries wait 30 seconds and put them back in causes the same effect
This is just an update on my issue for those whom might have a problem like this in the future. Sorry for bringing up an old
thread.
I mailed my Dell Axim x5 to PocketPC Tech and they had it for over a month.
They were unable to figure out the problem with why my system wouldn't sync with my system or anyone elses.
So they had an extra mobo for my Axim there they I bought from then and they upgraded my system with it.
I'm back up an running again now.
As you can see it's been a while since I've used my Axim. :)
I'm a very happy camper. They took a bit longer then I would have liked and I had to keep e-mailing and calling them for updates (I'm guessing they are busy guys) but it was worth it to me.
PS - I only bugged them once a week for a status update. :)
