Bluetooth cf card
I Purchased a bluetooth card and it installed fine. What I did was load up the pocket pc program from the cd it came with and installed on my XP machine. Once installation was done it brought up active sync and installed it to the ax. I plugged in the cf card and was able to setup a bluetooth dial up connection with my phone.
I assume you all installed the software from the cd right? I would try reinstalling and dont plug the cf card in the ax until everything is done syncing. For those of you that get it to work, I do have a question, Iam unable to connect to my PC via bluetooth to surf wirelessly at home. I can do it from my data minutes on my T68 but also want to do it at home for free and log into my network there. I can connect via VPN but pocket internet is not seeing a connection. Thanks Jim

I was about to put the same question up.
I'm also having trouble getting to connect to the net via bluetooth from my PDA. I bought an Ambicom bluetooth CF card and matching Ambicom bluetooth USB dongle for my PC. I installed the dongle and added the latest drivers. I added the CF to my Axim and instaled the latest drivers there too. Now the PC can see the Axim in the bluetooth neighbourhood, and the Axim can see the PC. But when on the Axim, I look at the available services the PC has, it only lists 'Serial' and 'File transfer', BUT doesnt list 'LAN' as an available service. According to the PDF man page for the Ambicom devices, this service is required to allow the Axim to connect to the PC to use the LAN. On the PC, i've added a 'modem' connection using 'direct cable connection' over the COM port allocated to the LAN service (when looking at the assigned services for the Ambicom bluetooth). Do I have to allow this to share the internet ? Any help would be appreciated. Neil.

gadgetdad, ok i managed to connect my Axim to my PC to allow internet connection. Ambicom (the makers of the bluetooth card/usb adapter) helped me out.
This is what they said : BTLAN is only if you have a Bluetooth ACCESS POINT. Are you trying to Access the Internet to the PDA through the PC? If so, please try the following manual for ACTIVESYNC: http://www.ambicom.com/support/insta...ActiveSync.pdf NOTE: MAKE sure that none of the devices are trusted when trying to do activesync. Under status in the Bluetooth Neighborhood under status it should say "InRange". So delete the trust between the two devices and rediscover the devices without the trust. So I followed their instructions, and once you hit "GoActiveSync" it asks you which device to connect to, you choose your PC, and then it opens a port and connects to the PC. The status on the "Activesync" on the Axim will change to "Connected". It will then be able to sync and surf the net from your Axim. Hope this helps.

hmmmm......
What bluetooth card in the Axim, and in the PC are you using ? Have you made sure the devices are NOT trusted. If they are trusted, delete them and then rediscover. Also, check the security on the PC device icon on the PC bluetooth neighbourhood is set to 'mode1' not .mode3'. Also, in the 'connection settings' on the Activesync on the PC, where you have chosen the COM port for the serial cable connection, does that COM port number matches the COM port used for 'Bluetooth COM port - SERIAL' as shown in the 'ports' section in 'device manager'. (hope your using WinXP). What happens after you click 'goactivesync' on the Axim ? Neil.

Hey I have the same card (Mavin) but I can't get it to work at all. I load the driver onto the Axim and enable it. When I open the manager window it shows my PC as device and the BT manager on my PC (a Mavin dongle) see's my Axim but when I tell the Axim to do a search for available services it says failed and then stops working completely. I can't tell if this is a driver problem or if the card is just bad. I've sent an e-mail to Mavin but they won't reply to me either. I thought it was great that I got the card so cheaply on EBay. I guess you get what you pay for.

Finally, I solved my problem by myself! Now I can use internet in my PDA with bluetooth LAN. Desktop: 1) turn on Internet sharing in your DSL/Cable Connection 2) "My Bluetooth Places" -- Local Services: COM4 3) Microsoft ActiveSync: COM 4 also PDA: 4) ActiveSync: Tools -> "Enbale synchronization...." and then choose `Bluetooth 5) GoActiveSync After you will hear sound that they are communication and then connected

I have a Dell Axim and I have an Ambicom BT CF card. I am using an Axim USB dongle for my PC as well.
I cannot get ActiveSync to work. Could you provide more specific instructions as to how you accomplished this. Please include tips on both the PC and Axim side. Thank you.
