Help with Axim

Have an Axim 5 with cradle about 2 years old. Recently it has been telling me that the battery was about to die. Not true. Put it in the charger anyway even though the indicator was that the battery had about 2 hours left on it.

Wound up with a "hard" reset and was very proud that I had backed it up last week. Went to restore and a message came that the backup file was not valid.

I moved the backup file to the SD card and to the default location and tried again but it wouldn't recognize the SD card as a source either. The file is called backup.stg which I think is valid.

Tried another hard reset with the same results. All of this was done in the cradle to avoid a possible battery problem. Battery indicator in Pocket PC indicates full batteries.

Any suggestions or is it time to purchase a new PC?

Followup

I have connected as a guest and tried to do a backup. The backup went fine and I was able to restore that backup.

I went to the old backup that I did last week and got the same results that the file was not valid. My biggest loss was flex wallet data.

More information

I forgot that I got a couple of battery running out going into standby mode before the failure.

Now that I have hard reset and loaded stuff back in I got the same message but when I checked the battery status in the system menu, it indicates full power on both batteries.
