Weird Battery problem

My wife has a X5 basic and I have a X5 Advance.

When her Axim is not plugged in the main battery power drops like a rock so I thought it was the battery.

I placed my battery in her Axim and it does the same thing. My battery and her battery act fine in my Axim.

They originally came with PC2002 and upgraded to PC2003 in November.

Hers just went out of warranty at the end of January.

What could be wrong?

What are you using to charge with?

AC Adapter/Cradle or USB Sync Cable?

Wierd battery thing

I have the X5 basic also and it did the same thing. I called DELL support and they had me update my rom file.

Your new ROM version should be A04.

I sync using both a cradle and A/C adapter and a USB cable. I think the USB cable doesn't do such a great job with chraging the battery.

Hope this helps.

Does she use the calendar function? If so, check to see if she gets alerts when an appointment comes up. Those alerts will keep turning on the axim and draining the battery.

I just resolved a similar problem on my Axim X5. After dropping it to the floor, I had an extreme battery drain problem. Just sitting overnight would drain the battery 10%, and using it during the day would gobble 60% or more when it normally would take 10%. I thought it was the battery. It wasn't. It turned out to be a defective SD memory card. I thought something was strange when I took it out and it was warm. Leaving it out returned my battery consumption to normal.

thanks for all the replies....

first she uses the provided ac adapter and usb cable and I use the provide cradle with ac adapter plugged into the craddle.

her axim doesn't have an SD card anymore and mine does.

It's weird that was mentioned because last weekend her Sandisk SD Card dies after a year of zero problems. My Sandisk SD has no problems still.

she does use the calendar and I can see how that would drain the battery... good suggestion
