Toshiba PCMCIA 5GB *Revisited* Please Help

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so I hope that you guys do not mind me opening another thread about this issue. However, I did not want to bump such an old thread and make everyone sift through it all once again. Ok, so on to my problem. I recently purchased a compact flash to pc card adapter from http://store.yahoo.com/semsons-inc/comflastopcc.html. I also purchased a Toshiba MK5002MPL PCMCIA hard drive that I have been informed is compatible with this adapter and Windows Mobile 2003. However, my brand new 5 gb pc card works fine in my laptop, but does not work on my Dell Axim X5 with this adapter. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be the problem? Their website says that a driver is not needed, while my Axim X5 tells me that there is an Unrecognized Card - Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information, see the card manufacturer's documentation. Any ideas? Is it possible that the adapter could be bad?

Thanks for your help,

Matthew Rudy

That's odd. Must be a WM2003 thing. I just received my Kingston 5GB PCMCIA datapak a couple days ago and it works fine in my X5 running PPC2002. It sees it as a honkin' big CF card.

Search other threads about the Kingston datapak. There have been discussions about the Toshiba in them as well. Maybe you'll find confirmation of a WM2003 issue.

Thanks for your reply...after I posted this message, I did some more research and found out that it does seem to be a WM 2003 problem, but unfortunately, I do not have a copy of 2002.

Thanks!
