any new info or resolution to CF file disappearance?

Short version: I'm now having SD card troubles.

Longer version:

I have an Axim X5 with PPC 2002. I have not done any upgrades to it, and the system information shows ROM Version A00. I have been using a Lexmark 256mb SD card since I bought the X5. Generally speaking, it has been working fine. However, recently when I delete a file from the card, either through File Explorer on the Axim or through Windows Explorer on my laptop (obviously w/Active Sync connected) several other files "disappear". I say they disappear because the memory on the card is not released, so at a minimum they are not being completely or cleanly deleted.

I have no idea how to "find" the files again (is there a PPC equivalent of scandisk?) and can only recover the missing space by reformatting the card again. I found one thread in this forum from many months ago (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...file+disappear) in which others describe the same problem of disappearing files, but no real solution. Does anyone know anything new? Is the current thought that it's a problem with this card vs. the Axim itself? Has there been any data that would imply a ROM update or anything like that might help?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Welcome to aximsite, carteriii!

Is your lexar made in china? Turn it over and see if "CHINA" is printed on the back. I'm sorry to say these cards have known issues with axims.

More generally, have a look at happycheesecake's SD card site here http://sdprob.aximsite.com/ to see if your card is one of the troublemakers.

Ah, thank you. Looks like that may be my problem. My card does say China and the model number is on the list. I'll see if Lexar is willing to swap my card for a different one. Thanks again.
