Needing File to Help Hardware Buttons

Hello, I know this has been talked about , but not where I am fixing to go. I have for some reason lost the ability to access my hardware buttons and I have seen where a hard boot fixes that. Well actually what it does is replace the lost file. I want to try it a different way. I have over 840 programs and I do not know when it all stopped working. I have very good back-ups of CF, SD and the PDA, but don't want to do a hard reset yet. When I click on the buttons it says can't find button.exe, so I know it has been placed somewhere else, probably by a program. I move lots of programs around into different folders from the PDA to CF and SD, but It won't let me move ones that are assigned to the buttons , etc, so a program has done this, like taking the default contacts, etc from the main screen. I don't want to do a hard reset untill I have tried all things. I want to see if someone will email me with a copy of their button.exe file so I can try it. I usually do a physical backup of file by file from the PPC to my PC and I am going to look and see if I can find it that way, but I would like someone to help me with this. Thank you.
