The modem AT string commands were given me by Cingular tech support, although I do not know why my carrier, AT&T/CBW, used Cingular for this support....But I am glad they did or I would never have figured this out!!!!

FIRST, THE HARDWARE DETAILS:
- 1. Dell Axim X5 Advanced Model running WM2003, any and ALL available ROM's & Updates applied. Active Synch 3.7
2. Siemens S56 GSM/GPRS Phone. AT&T/Cincinnatie Bell Wireless
3. Ambicon BT2000-CF Bluetooth Compact Flash Card
BT CF Card WM2003 DRIVER HERE DON'T use the driver that comes with the card IF YOU ARE USING WM2003!
Pair the Axim & Phone with the Blue Neighbor Software on the today screen. You do this by double tapping on the Bluetooth module the driver puts on the Today Screen on your Axim. If it is not there, go to Start/Settings/Today/Items & check it so it will show up. The BT CF Card needs to be inserted....double tap on the bluetooth Module on your today screen & choose "Blue Neighbors". Tap the phone icon. Tap Device at bottom of screen for menu, then tap "Trust This Device".
Now you need to create a connection. Tap the connection icon to the left of your volume icon on the top of the Axim's today screen.
Tap settings.
Tap Connections.
Tap "Add a new modem connection"
Name the new connection GPRS.
Choose the "Ambicon Bluetooth Modem" for the modem.
Enter the number to dial: "*99***1#" (without the quotes)
Username = BLANK. NOTHING GOES HERE
PASSWORD = BLANK. NOTHING GOES HERE EITHER.
DOMAIN = YOUR WIRELESS DOMAIN. I.E., MINE WAS
www.gocbw.com. You should be able to substitute your domain here, i.e.,
www.attwireless.com, etc.
Tap ADVANCED.
Tap General Tab
Baud Rate = 19200
"WAIT FOR DIAL TONE BEFORE DIALING" ---> SHOULD BE UNCHECKED, IF IT IS NOT, THEN UNCHECK IT
"WAIT FOR CREDIT CARD" = 0 SECONDS
EXTRA DIAL-STRING MODEM COMMANDS: BLANK
"CANCEL IF NOT CONNECTED = UNCHECKED / O SECONDS
PORT SETTINGS TAB:
DATA BITS = 8
PARITY = NONE
STOP BITS= 1
FLOW CONTROL = HARDWARE
TERMINAL:
CHECK! USE TERMINAL BEFORE CONNECTING
UNCHECKED! "USE TERMINAL AFTER CONNECTING"
CHECK!! ENTER DIALING COMMANDS MANUALLY
TCP/IP TAB:
TICK MARK "USE SERVER ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS
CHECK:"USE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION"
CHECK:"USE IP HEADER COMPRESSION"
SERVERS:
TICK MARK - "USE SERVER-ASSIGNED ADDRESSES
EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIS TAB BLANK
CLICK OK
CLICK "FINISH"
UNDER SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS:
VPN = NONE
UNDER SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS:
PROXY SETTINGS = CHECK MARK ON "THIS NETWORK CONNECTS TO THE INTERNET" ; EVERYTHING ELSE BLANK
CLICK OK
CLICK OK
TAP YOUR CONNECTION ICON BY YOUR VOLUME ICON AT TOP OF TODAY SCREEN
CLICK THE PHONE NUMBER "*99***1#"
A BALLOON WINDOW WILL OPEN THAT SAYS "CONNECTING" IN THE TITLE BAR. CLICK "HIDE"
IN THE TERMINAL WINDOW THAT COMES UP:
TYPE THE FOLLOWING, WITHOUT QUOTES; <CR> MEANS ENTER. YOU MAY ALSO CLICK EDIT/SEND. AND, IF YOU NEED TO, YOU CAN CLICK EDIT/CLEAR BUFFER TO CLEAR THE SCREEN....
TYPE :
AT <CR>

then TAP "ok"
