Question can I TOTALY deinstall activesync?

Somehow my activesync is really screwed up. I have uninstalled till I am blue in the face, follwoed the directions on the MS site for manually removing it, deleted the driver file, etc but still when I reload it and try to sync it connects for about 2 seconds then disconnects. The Axim shows disconnected but the acitivesync spins and says connecting. It never asks me if I want to set up a partnership or anything. I partitioned my hardrive and put another windows xp os to see if it was a hardware problem. It works perfectly. So I know it is something on this partition and I think that if I could get AS really removed it might be a good place to start. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

I know this thread is from a long time ago but I am having the same exact problem. It never did ask for a new partnership when I uninstalled and reinstalled.

Any suggestions...

i've had that problem and usually cannot fix it except by hard reset. once i found about 10-20 weird little temp files in windows directory and deleted them and it started working again.

are you using ICbar?

actually, can you give a software list? maybe we can pin down who is doing this.
