Black screen after reset

This morning I gave my X5 a restart and well basically it didn't come back on.

It sits there on a black screen and I can't turn it off with the power button, I have to take out the battery or at least the lock for it. After I do that goes off, if i turn it on then the message about the battery latch is open appears. If I click ok on that it just sits there and does nothing as before, except with the imprint of the message box which doesn't go away.

The obvious thing to do would be try a hard reset...but unfortunately there is stuff on there I really need which has not been backed up for about a month.

So does anyone have any ideas what so ever of being able to get it back up and running without a hard reset (And here's hoping if I have to hard reset that actually works).

If you're still seeing an "image" of that error message on your screen, it means that your screen is just dimmed and not off. After the error message, (while the box is dimly visible), press the power button for about 3 seconds and see if it turns the screen back up. Then try Soft Resetting, again. ........grasping at straws here.

Also, try this:

Button Hard Reset; Press & Hold the Reset Button then Press the Power Button. This should give you an Option Screen, with a choice to press one of two Hard Buttons (I don't remember which, but it gives graphics). On will do the hard Reset, the other is a default exit. Sometimes choosing the exit/cancel choice will allow the reboot process to continue without wiping all memory.

If it doesn't give you the option screen, you're probably gonna hafta do a Battery Hard Reset:

Remove BOTH batteries, sling a slew of curses at the computer gods, put the batteries back in and start from scratch.

I also suggest getting Sprite BackUp

HERE's how I have my Sprite Backup configured.

I don't think I can thank you enough! I went to the hard reset menu, chose the cancel button and then a message saying the time had been reset or something popped up, I clicked ok and loaded back up again. :D

I haven't touched it much since, still feeling a bit uneasy about it. I think I'll look into that backup software you use and perhaps get that going on a far more regular basis than what I do now.

Thanks a heap.

oh and not that it really matters, but just about that message at the start I mentioned in my first post. It came up, I could move it about, and where ever I left it, it would leave an imprint of its self, and would also do that after I clicked ok. So if I moved it around it would appear as though I had a heap of message boxes all over the screen. But yeah doesn't matter now.:)
