Sorry :-) I understand you.
Ehy I'm still interested in taking it.
Why don't you leave to me the problem?

I don't know. What model is it?
CPU?

consider that advanced X5s get off ebay nowadays for as little as 115 bucks. do your math.

As far as the dell CS... good luck with that.
Prepare yourself for some disappointment.

Hope you get it right anyway.

it's an Axim X5 advanced with a rhino case and 256MB simpletech SD card (works perfectly, unlike sandisk).

400 mhz

i don't think i could be disappointed, i'm just looking to see what would cause or fix the problem.

I'd say you can get 70-80 $ for it. At least that's what I would pay.

As far as technical support from Dell all I'm saying is that they will most likely tell you "we don't know what is the cause but you can trade in your X5 for a new unit for 180 bucks!"
They don't even sell digitizers so don't expect them to suggest buying one.
But hey, you might get lucky and get the only one nice tech guy who will help you out.
Although I can promise you that no one will give you 100% warranty that the issue comes from the digitizer.

yea not expecting a replacement or even a trade-in. i just want them to give me a definitive answer on if they've seen this problem before, if they think replacing digitizer will fix it.

i'll let you know about that axim... seems a little low if you're including the SD card and rhino case. rhino as like $35 new and SD was about $65, that's $100 right there. i know they don't go for that much anymore... but maybe i'll just sell ya the axim w/rhino case, tell me what you'll give for that

ok I just spoke with the support tech and she said she was 100% sure that the problem would be fixed by replacing the digitizer. someone else had the same exact problem and that was the fix.

that's what i was looking for, i will next be attempting to replace it

well i opened it up and cleaned the screen really nicely... then closed it up and it looks like it doesn't get frequently misaligned anymore. it still does some shaking when i'm moving horizontally, but that's not really too much of a problem. unless the problem recurs, i see no reason to even buy a replacement digitizer

thanks for your help, all

I having the same problem with my screen not responding. It's soooo frustrating. Funny I read few simple posts statying "bump" tonight I was pratically tempted to throw it against a wall! he hehe lucky I didn't. but yeah just to let you guys know that I've had this problem close to 2 months now and it's a real B%tch! I solved it many times by taking the axim apart. opening it and cleaning the screen. of course because my battery is taking out, it factory resets but then it's good for awhile.

What I'm disappointed in is that fact the this happened just shortly after my 1 year warranty died out.. How typically huh? But I did take some pictures of me taking it apart if you are interested in viewing them:

Enjoy guys, and if you guys can find a solid solution to this, please share!

Cheers!

As I said the only permanent solution is a NEW DIGITIZER!!!
