Palm Desktop vs Axim X5

Well, call me stupid, but I purchased this X5 in hopes of having a desktop for my home PC. I have the Sony Clie as well and can add data to my computer and Sync it to my PDA. I have loaded all of the disks that came with this unit and I can't find one. Can someone tell me if there is a program similar to the Palm Desktop? Also, can I convert all my contacts in Palm OS form to the Axim? Thank you.:)

You can just beam (via IR) you contacts, calendar entries, tasks, and memos from your CLIE to your Axim. Or you can use Intellisync to sync your Axim with the Palm Desktop. ;)

firefightersink, do you have MS Outlook? I find that it works pretty well (better than the palm desktop in fact).

The Axim comes with Outlook, which is similar functionally to Palm Desktop. I think Clies come with Intellisync Lite, which can be used to sync Desktop with Outlook. Most Palms come with Chapura PocketMirror, which most people prefer, and can be bought online.

PocketMorror isn''t a PIM like Palm Desktop is. It converts Palm data to MS format and sync with Outlook. Basically you get PocketMirror on the PALM desktop CD or free.

Peace,
Henk.

MS Outlook, comes with PocketPC's, like Axim.

Intellisync or PocketMirror, one of which might have come with your PalmOS device.
