Cannot find files on my SD card

I have a Dane elec 512MB (which we all know is not really a 512MB =)) and out of nowhere one day I was not able to access my files on the card. all the shortcuts turned into blank screens and would not work. in my memory settings page the card shows 300MB of memore in use but there are only few files that definitelly do not take up that much memory that show. and uninstalling anything does not increase the free memory. but I can still put new files on it and work with the ones that I can see. I'm confused. =) HELP. I have hard reset my axim but it did not fix it. what is up???

Do you have a card reader you can try with your cards? Try to see if you can see your files on your PC.

Also, have you taken out your card lately? Make sure it is properly installed.

I dont have a card reader and the card was properly installed to begin with. I have 300MB on it already I just can't see what they are...anywhere. I have taken it out. I can install new files and use them. I just cant use the whole 300MB cause I cant access them nor delete them.

If you use the Explore function on ActiveSync (File-->Explore), can you see your files? If yes, you could copy them over to your PC and then reformat your card.

I think what silentknight meant was that if you had a backup, you could go ahead and reformat the card (i.e., erase everything), then restore it back using the backup.

I don't know of any free ones, but these ones may have trials:

Flash Format

StorageTools

Pocket Mechanic

Good luck.

I tried, all of those and my card will not format. its as if the files on there are not accessible but I can work with new ones, I just cant use the 300MB that are on there.
THis is the message I get when I try to format:

"Exclusive access to the storage card is denied (#5)
.
Pleace close any application which may be accessing files on the storage card."

THere is nothing running on this. I closed all the files. its so weird. Its like I cannot access a portion of my memory card.

But I thought you had a backup?

Please post back if you have continued problems with your Dane Electric. It would be of great interest to those looking to buy some more memory.

Did you write data to the card from the Axim?
