Woah I got three weeks of no reply and now in a day I got a whole topic going on. LOL I'm impressed
Well I know everything about the speaker. I too have currently a couple of units open. Why do you think I choose that link?
I know that 's the appropriate speaker.
No the question is: Will it get better?
I was thinking that most likely it will not because the most crappy part of the audio issue on the axim is the SW. Am I wrong?
I mean if you use the headphone jack you still get poor audio even with the best headphones.

You are probably right about that, and you wouldnt even get louder sound because you would need more power for that...maybe though, maybe. I actually have no idea on this, it just doesnt seem likely to work. Thats my $.02, leave ideas/suggestoins for my modding/painting in my water fountain thread now...

Ummm, actually when I use a good set of earphones the sound is really quite good. So, an improved speaker should improve the overall sound, but bear in mind that a 9/16 inch speaker is never going to be that good. ;)

WOW ! go easy on the resolution m8... havent heard about resizing ? LOL the pics are ****ing huge... :D

Nice 8 Megapixel shooting tho'....

As for the question about the quality:

The "software" you refer to is an audio codec.
this module is incahrge of the volume quality and its power ( subject to the speaker limitations )

What I was looking for is also the Wattage of the current speaker.
So I will know to buy a stronger one and not the same wattage.

I also use good set of headphones and the quality and power are very good so I bet my bucks that the gulity lies on the crappy speaker... looks like Dell tried to save 5 $ here...

BTW if I open my PPC is it the same as "hard reset" ? ( need I to disconnect the BUB in addition to the main battery ? )

d_light, kindly watch the language, this is a G rated site. As to the questions you asked, the audio processing in the Axim is really pretty good. Most users have reported excellent audio when using good quality headphones through the audio socket. Opening the case should be considered the same as hard reset. Even if you could leave the BUB in and/or external power attached, you would/should remove power to do the surgery to replace the speaker itself. It's not prudent to work on electronic devices with the power on. THe danger is not to you, because the voltages and current in these little devices is low. The danger is that because of the low voltages and currents involved it doesn't take much to "fry" one of these components and end up with a brand new speaker installed in a paperweight.
