replace the speaker

Since we all know the crappy speaker that's inside the X5 I wondered if it would be possible to replace it with a better quality one.
I was cheching out this one.

Size and ohm are correct. Price is affordable.
The question is: will there be any improvements?
Has anybody tryed something similar?

Too bad nobody has an answer.
I'm tempted to try.
I'm just afraid it's going to be exactly the same.

it might work but with the same small speaker you cant expect much more, small speakers with the low power just arent that good

but here with this link
http://www.aximsite.com/modules.php?...howpage&pid=26
you can see inside the X5 a little better and get an idea of what it would take

I currently have my x5 open, it shouldnt be too hard, you just cut the wire from the board and unscrew the current speaker, and it should work. If you want pics of it up close i wil take them and post them, otherwise i wont waste my time

EDIT: More luck for your idea, the speaker its self isnt screwed in, there is just a rubber piece on top of it that is holding its self in that is screwed on, so as long as you got a speaker the right size, all you have to do is transplant the wire.

Im painting the case, probably working on the d-pad and now i might replace the speaker, and of course to provide the info of the open axim to people who need it.

not necessaraly, and btw the speaker is about 5/8" wide, so you will need to find one that size, or it probably wont fit, and none of the ones on the web page are the right size

cheers m8 cool pictures, nice to see wat's hidden inside.

As for the speaker issue: since my AXIM X5 has finished its warranty, and I'm quite handy with electronics, I'm willing to do this speaker replacement on it, and report if its any good and of course provide a detailed explanation ( w/ pics ) on how its been done.

All I need from you guys is a direction on where I can purchase this speaker and if anyone can provide me with the schematics of the X5 it would be even more helpful.
I need to know the X5's characteristics ( ohm, diameter, height, working voltage etc. )

Diamater: 9/16", you could probably pull off 5/8" though
Thickness: 1/8"
Ohms: 8
Cant tell you the voltage, it isnt usually listed on things like speakers
If you do this, you will probably have to remove the connecter from the axim speaker and attach it to the new speaker.
Thats all the info i can give you, see my previous posts for a little more. Like i have said, if you want pics, im happy to, but otherwise i wont waste my time

Already said i would, im about to go get the paint. I was thinking about ditching the current microphone, and putting in a microphone jack, but it might be really hard, or it would be easy, but i still cant tell
