X5 Screen Won't Illuminate

2 yr old X5- all of sudden screen won't illuminate- (i can see the info but at very low light level)- main battery fully charged- i tried another one also- does the 3.5v one supply screen power (I though it was for ROM only)- any suggestions?

The Power Button has two functions:

1) Quick Press & Release will power unit on & off.

2) Press & Hold will alternately turn the backlight on & off.

Try a Press & Hold to turn backlight back on, then, to turn device off, use only a Quick Press & Release.
