Axim connected to USB HUB

Has anyone been successful in connecting their Axim via an USB hub? I have tried many times and it crashes my PC. Dell support doesn't seem to know why it is doing this.

Any ideas??:exc:

That's how I connect my Ax. I have some cheap unpowered 4-port hub that I picked up for $5 at a local computer store. I don't have the cradle, just the USB cable...don't know if that matters.

I had real inconsistant AS behaviour through a hub with the cradle and the cable. I tried every combination (as I'm USB device heavy and hate to give a port up) between my two USB hubs. I ended up doing the USB port shuffle to give the cradle a port of it's own, and have had no problems since then.

Some Dell Optiplex workstations can't sync with an Axim until a USB 2.0 card is installed (BIOS problem). Dell's support site has more than a few folks claiming that installing a USB 2.0 card fixed their "through a hub" problem, even if the hub is not USB 2.0 compliant.

There is no one answer to this certified AS problem as everyone ends up with a slightly different soloution. Of all the USB devices I have (or had), this is the ONLY one that was a real pain.

I have my Axim cradle connected via a 7 port USB 1 hub to my computer running Windows XP. No problems that switching the Axim off and on again didn’t fix. 5 of the other posts are filled.
