Exclamation Directional Pad Woes!! (please Reply!)

I am just wondering how many other people have problems with their Axim Directional Pad. In particular does it get "STUCK" in the right-direction sometimes?

I know of 2 other people who bought Axims and they say they have problems with their directional pads!!!

Is this the cheapest Directional Pad integrated into a PDA in history? Is that why the devices are marked down so cheap?

How many other people have the same problem?

Please reply to the post to give your opinion!

My axim

I've recently gotten my Axim, while the pad has been soft I haven't had any problems controlling movement. Have you tried the dpad patch? Some have had somehwhat of an improvement, if no improvement you should definitely call Dell and have them send you one overnight. I mean you paid the same price as everybody else so you deserve a unit that has a working dpad.

My first Axim had one of the "defective" d-pads. After a couple calls to Dell they overnighted me a new one. My new one works much better.

Also, when you stay "Stuck" do you mean that it will sometimes continue to scroll even after the p-pad is released?

If so, try this, it seems to correct this specific problem.

Go to Start-Settings-Buttons. Select the Up/Down Control tab. Make sure both slider bars are all the way to left (i.e. Delay before first repeat set to Short and Repeat rate set to Slow).

Arrow

I had an issue with my orginal Axim and when I called Dell about it, they sent me a new PDA "next day air".
This one works perfect.

Mine also has this problem. I called tech support Sunday and a new one should be on its way. I hope it works.

Arrow D-Pad

I guess I must be lucky. Even though the D-pad is, in other words, GHETTO, mine has worked fine. I use the D-pad often because I have several games loaded on my Axim that uses it.
