okay so I have had this little thing for a while, and lately I have noticed it freezing or sticking.
I will select something and it will delay about a full minute before I can get to it.
Today I was trying to add in a new appointment.
I couldn't get out of the screen.
I kept tapping the OK button at the top right, what kept coming up was the Menu for the Letter REcognizer/Keyboard/. That is in the Lower right corner, why is that coming up when I am selecting the OK?
I finally get to the main screen - and I cannot select Anything!
I get to the password screen and I have to wait about two minutes before I can put in my password.
Well I had/still have this problem but only if your syncing with your computer if your are so going to a menu while you are syncimg dont it will freeze. If its freezing just like that well DELL needs to get a quick call, lol
Yes In your activesync got to the top tool bar where it sais tools. From there youl see add/remove programs, click it and all your game, applications anything you download to from the internet will be there, not files, not music only the applications.
I experienced tha same problem- called tech service- suggested running a business card between the screen and metal edges along all 4 sides- worked, but problem re-occurs- called again- need to PURCHASE a refurb unit for @$200- not very happy
This is a post I made a few days ago on the Dell Axim Forum. I still have'nt had any problems since I made the repair.

I had this problem for about 6 months. I was able to work around it by pressing in on the sides. The problem progressively got worse, so I decided to open it up and see what was going on. This is what I found:
The touch screen lays on top of the display screen. At the bottom of the touch screen, directly below the "Inbox Button", there is a flex cable (flat mylar with conductors). I found that the contacts from the button had scratch through the mylar on the flex cable and would short out. I suppose this would scramble the decoding from the touch screen.
To correct the problem, I cut a small piece of electrical tape and laid it across the damaged area on the flex cable. I reassembled it using just the screws (I left the rubber sides and feet off) and tested it. After I was sure it was working correctly, I finished assembling it.
You can find detailed disassembly instructions on the web by doing a search for X5 screen replacements. The procedure isn't that difficult, just be careful when you remove the rubber sides and feet to lift them slowly and try to keep the glue stuck to the rubber (this makes reassembly much easier).
Quick instruction:
1. Do a complete backup of your unit (you will loose all your data).
2. Remove both batteries and any cards.
3. Remove the rubber feet, sides and plugs at the bottom back.
4. Remove 6 screws from the back.
5. You should be able to remove the back of the unit.
6. Unplug the speaker cable (pull straight up on the plug).
7. Lift the motherboard and screen away from the front cover.
8. Make your repair.
9. Reassemble in reverse order.
Hope this works for you, I did this about a week ago and haven’t had a problem since.
:)

The Following User Says Thank You to Markins For This Useful Post:
Markins- You should work for Dell. I called them several weeks ago about this problem, and they were quick to tell me that is was not in warranty any more so there was nothing they could do. I found your posting and I did exactly as you stated. My X5 hasn't worked this well in months. I sure wish Dell would pass this info on, but I guess there are a lot of people that just buy a new on.......Thanks for your help!

Worked like a charm. I used a small piece of tape 3/16 inch by 3/8 inch. Just large enough to cover the orangish mylar conduit. The only problem I had is losing some of the double sided tape on one of the rubber sides. I'll probably have to buy some rubber cement or double sided tape. The only tool you need is a small philips head screwdriver.
Okay I might have to move to that step.
I am getting around it by pressing in the sides at this time, but I guess I'll work on your repair suggestion soon :approve: .
