Close to tears! Axim won't turn on regularly

Why do I feel so hopeless?

Since this morning, my Axim has not been able to turn on consistently. The only way I got the screen to finally light up was by doing a hard reset, and then pressing cancel. From then, if I turn it off, it MIGHT turn back on a few times, but eventually stops turning on again. And then I have to hard reset...again. This cycle has continued for the past hour.

*Checked the battery by reinserting the main
*Checked the battery by placing it in the cradle (everything lights up except for the screen)
*Checked to see if I was just dimming the screen when I power it (but tapping the screen yields nothing)
*It's not the screen protector either

So, if the only thing that works is doing a hard reset to turn it on almost every time, do you guys think I should call support? Or am I doing something wrong that I haven't thought of yet?

(This is my first ever pda/handheld)

Okay, I just called Dell support. The guy told me I have to wait 4 to 5 days before he can help me. He said I or the Axim needs time to "settle down." Is there a policy about this? They can't help me until I've had the device for 5 days??

Hmm

Call them again...tell them that you're PDA is broke. (if that's what it is.)
They'll send one out next day mail. Then you won't have to be without a PDA & you're problem with be theirs.

good luck.

Yea that CSR doesn't know what he is talking about. Just call back and tell them that this Axim is unusable. They will send out another Axim.
Later,
James

If the next CSR is as clueless as the first one, be polite but insist on talking to a manager. Your axim is defective, pure and simple. It doesn't need settling time for the on/off switch.

That CSR must have been one of the "dudes" in the new advertising stream. Doh!

Thanks, guys, after about an hour-long wait, I got someone to send me a replacement that will arrive by this Monday. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that this next one will not have any problems. If I encounter another one, I think my conscience will make me return it for good and wait for a better model.
