Sandisk SD Card
Hey, with all of the discussions about Sandisk's 256MB SD Card, I thought a poll might be in order.
Please comment on your specific experience.

I've had my 128MB card since early December and have not had one problem.(bought from Staples)
Also several friends have recently purchased the 256MB cards and have not had any problems either. (One friend bought 2 from CDW. Not sure where the other one bought his.)

I purchased the 256MB sandisk SD card from Neutronusa.com and have had no problems at all. I would definitely by a sandisk card again and I would recommend NeutronUSA.com as well.
Hope this helps.

[rant on]
I hate my SanDisk and I will never give them another dime. I am tired of losing my data almost once a week. Card went back and I'm very happy with my Lexar. A 10 foot pole is not long enough to keep this card away from my Axim.
[rant off]
I feel better now, but I'm not the only one.

Unlucky
I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones who got a cruddy sandisk card. It locked my Axim every time I inserted it. I contacted Amazon and they claim they haven't had any problems (uh huh). I will never buy another sandisk card. I went out tonight as a matter of fact and purchased two pny cards, one smart media and one sd :) and...... no probs at all. I guess I'm stuck with the sandisk, I wouldn't feel right about putting it on ebay knowing it is junk. I'm relieved to hear people have some good experiences with their product, but I'm happy with pny now.

You should give your card a try in a digital camera and see if there are any problems with using it like that. Maybe cruise into a local electronics store and just ask them if you could test it out. Maybe it's just a problem with using it in a PDA and maybe it will be fine in a camera. Worth a shot, then you could put it up on Ebay and get some of your money back......

SanDisk
My Sandisk card came with my Axim. Not even a hint of any problems.
Just my 2 cents :)

I wonder if formatting the SD cards in FAT32, which several programs out there will do such as Storage Tools & Flash Format will do, will eliminate any problems. I own 4 Dell Axim 5 400 MHz and bought 4- SanDisk 512MB & 256MB Secure Didigtal cards and have not had any problems. The FAT32 format works better & is better optimized too :)

Thanks
Thanks for the advice I will try formatting differently, and if that doesn't work, I will test it in a digital camera. That's why I love these forums :)

I have been following the various Sandisk threads because I have a Sandisk 256MB SD and had some problems shortly after I installed it with "large" files disappearing after I put them in the My Documents folder (I created this folder myself because the card was not formatted by my Ax when I installed it). After reading a thread on this site (an old one before all these Sandisk specific threads started popping up). I decided that the problem was related to the "ignore_my_docs" file Pocket PC put on my already formatted card after I started using it.
I haven't had any problems since using CNetX's Flash Format, I used the default settings for formating and it created a My Documents folder. I have installed many programs and large files since the format, with no problems, hope my luck holds out, but I am copying my program folders to my PC just in case.

Lost all data twice in the first 24 hours. Yanked the 256 card out and replaced it with the 64mb card from my digital cam and haven't had any issues (except the massive lack of space). Sandisk returned and Lexar 256 card is on the way and should be here by Friday!

Hmm - this is really frustrating. In Canada, the only 256 MB SD card that is really available is the SanDisk version. The Lexmark only seems to come in a max of 128 MB. Sometimes I really hate being a few months behind.
With a cost of under $80 US, though - there's not really any other option but to go with SanDisk, something I'm afraid of doing after reading a lot of negative posts regarding their cards.
Any other location suggestions for SD cards in Canada?

Yo! AndSoItGoes...

Does Amazon deliver to Canada? I found this link for the Lexar 256 mb card at 80.95 US.

I have no idea if they have limits or minimums. I ordered mine through Buy.com, but they have a $500 minimum for delivery to Canada.
You should move down here to Florida -- nice and warm (no matter what time of year)!

So far the votes are not looking good for Sandisk!

Happy day!
I got my Lexmark 256mb through ecost.com for $77 US! NO worry about duties or anything :)
That, combined with a Bluetooth dongle for my PC and let's just say I'm a happy scrappy camper!
Whooo!
