Program Memory Problem???

I am new to pocket pc's (and pda's in general) and I was curious about program memory.
I have my 'memory slider set at about 50/50 storage to program. I have 32 MB and therefore about 15 MB allocated to each.the problem is, is theat my program memory seems to be running really low and in fact I only have approximately 2 MB of the 15 remaining. This seems really strange to me since I have checked that I have no running programs: I can't figuure out why my program memory is so low.
I have Icbar, Battery Bar and Journal Bar all installed. Do they take up all this program memory?
Where could it all be?
K, just did some playin around. I also have a few themes that I have created using 'theme generator'. It seems that when I switch to a new theme or even an old one (which I have done several times), that my 'program memory expenditure goes up; the more I chnage them the more memory gets used.
Obviously this is not normal.
Should I delete those themes and hope my memory returns? Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Try a soft reset once you find the theme you want. That should do a memory clean up for you and recover some of the memory. The slider is adjusted by the operating system, so even if you set it, it will move as the system sees need for more space. Try to keep the Storage memory as free as you can so that Program Storage gets as much as it needs. The less 'headroom' the slower the Ax will get.

do you mean keep storage memory free or program memory free?
(confused me by sayin 'program storage').

Thanks for the response

He's saying try not to load up the "Storage Memory" side too heavily with apps and stuff, as this will decrease the amount of memory available for operations. Throw what you can onto memory cards.

Program memory is how much memory is being used to run processes on the Ax, whereas Storage memory is memory for holding apps, etc.

The system doesn't seem to be very efficient at clearing Program
(read: operational) memory after you've closed down apps. I've taken to doing about 2 soft-resets a week to clear the clutter from Program memory, otherwise it just keeps going up & up & up...

Thanks... I have noticed that program memory seems to continue to go up for no real reason.

Yes, it will go up and down as programs need more or less memory to run. The operating system will move the boundary to make sure programs have enough room to run. Generally the boundary will be to split the available free space 50/50. So, if you have 32 Meg total and store 4 meg of programs and data in the Storage Memory, and then use up 12 Meg of Program memory, the remaining 16 meg will be split 8 and 8, with the slider ending up at 12 for storage, 20 for program. You can temporarily change that location, but the operating system will override your temporary change if it needs more program or storage space.

Also, if the slider is moved by the o/s to cut down on Storage space and make program space available, then a program shut down, making more program memory available it won't move back to the 50/50 point until and unless you store something into Storage and it determines it needs more space there. It's all kind of magic, so don't worry about it too much, just keep as much out of Storage as you can.
