Mad Axim Returned to Dell...

I just recently got my Axim and now I must return. I posted recently below about the upper right hand corner, near the stylus
not being fasten tightly. I had to hold tightly to get it to function.

Today my Axim got a mind of its own and started writing new contacts & notes......by its-self!!! even to the extent of using the
keypad....again..all by its-self. I did a complete backup, hard reset, reloaded and same thing started again.

Called Dell, Mr. Customer Care promptly shipped me another
on its way in 1 to 2 days.

Thanks Dell,,,,,I would not want to be with out my new friend
for very long.

Hmm

Well I am glad to see I am not the only one to have encountered this problem. I thought I was imagining it. I have been through several hard resets and my Axim still seems to have a mind of its own. Typing and picking what ever programs it feels like activating. I called Dell tonight and they are shipping out a replacement tomorrow. They said it was going to take three or four days to get here. Sounds like a good week to take a few days off. :-) Everyone is going to be asking where the left side of my brain is.

I wish Dell had the same replacement procedure as Palm. I always had a replacement Palm the next day. Dell wouldn't even let me add the over night shipping charges to my credit card.

Well I will be sitting at the loading dock waiting for the delivery truck. :-)

Big Smile

Here's a funny....

My replacement Dell arrived in record time and I am quit pleased! However, the web page says it is still being prepped for shipment.

It's awesome having a working Axim again!!!! I feel like a whole person....

Chances are what happened was the case was misaligned ,and it crimped down just barely on the touch screen, then. the slightest distrubance woudl have causd several commands to be entered-- on its own seemingly.

That's my theory.

Sounds very possible except that sometimes the Axim would be docked or laying on a desk and it would start coming to life. I would probably still go with your theory. I was starting to wonder if the SAN SD 256 card was causing havoc since that was the last thing changed prior to it acting up. But then again, your theory sounds about right....

Sounds like you at least got fast replacements. My Dell was deemed defective so they said they were going to send out a new one. They said I'd have it in two weeks??!!!!!!!??? I looked at my warranty and told them it CLEARLY stated NEXT BUSINESS DAY REPLACEMENT. (Which it does) According to my order, it won't even SHIP until the 17th. I placed the trouble call and replacement on the 9th. (Sunday) That doesn't seem like next business day to me. I'm EXTREMELY po'd about this. I've read over the warranty very carefully. If they can't deliver what they promise, then they shouldn't put it in writing.

Not very happy about this at all.

Glad everyone else had good experiences. Maybe something will change.

Mad Next Day replacement?

Odered my Axim in mid Jan and recv'd it on Feb 4. It worked well for two weeks before It developed a mine of it's own. DELL sent a replacement in three days, unfortunately, it would not go beyond the "Align screen." In the mean time, I've have been told by fewer than 3 DELL employees that a replacement is on the way. After a follow up call, I was finally told that DELL will not send a replacement until they get back the two defective units, that by the way they arranged to be returned by ground delivery. In the mean time, they have my money, and I have no Axim. So much for DELL's customer service. What do they think I would do with 2 defectiive Axim's. I wouldn't give them $300 for six defective units. I'll keep you posted on how long it will take for them to deliver. what they advertise and I've paid for. Not Happy

Worried

I guess I should be counting my blessings then. I called my Dell in on Monday and had my replacement on Wednesday. And thank goodness it is working like a champ. Have only encountered one error because of the SAN SD card. I hope my good luck continues because like sucks without the partner! I was tempted just to take the week off from work!

On day one without my PPC I tried going back to my Palm m505 which still sits on my desk. That idea lasted about 2 minutes. I could never go back and I was at one time a Palm addict. As Palm users put it, "The dark side has me for good!"
