Question backlight?

Is the back light only supposed to come from the top or is it supposed to also come from the bottom of the display? I find it's hard to see things on the display unless I'm looking at it from a slightly downward angle due to the possitioning of the backlight. Is this how it's supposed to be or am I missing something? I have a friend who has a Toshiba e335 and the backlight comes from the bottom and everything seems to be a little brighter and easier to see.

I have the 400MHz X5

A properly working Ax has one of the best displays on the market -- easy to read from almost any angle. The Ax has some kid of reflector near the bottom of the display to help disperse the light. Maybe yours is missing. Whatever the pb, I would get a new unit from Dell.
