SD Card Troubles

I have a Sandisk 256mb SD card inserted in the Axim. However, the Axim does not recognize the card. I looked in file explorer and I do not see any files. I went to "Settings", "Systems", and tapped "Memory" and did not see the memory card as an option under the "Storage Card" tab.

This was all working before. I removed the card and re-inserted it with no luck.

Any suggestions???

Get a different brand.
From what I have read on these boards, everyone has had some problems with SanDisk not working right in their Axim.

I have a SimpleTech SD card and have had no problems at all.

Exclamation A SanDisk Solution but not a fix

Wanted to let everybody stuck with SanDisk know that I was able to put files on and get files off my 256mb SD card with my USB 6 in 1 reader from Winward that I bought off Ebay. Hope this info helps. If anyone knows of a share/free ware version of StorageTools, or FlashFormat please let me know. Questions, comments email me at sett@rocketmail.com and put axim somewhere in the subject.

Thanks,

Sett

I returned my 256mb SanDisk SD card before I even used it after reading everyone's responses on the board. Ordered two 128mb SimpleTech SD cards and haven't had a problem with them at all.

SanDisk Sucks! I have disliked them since my Win 98 days with their super crappy card reader. darn thing never did work. I finaly got mad and smaked it with a hammer ( no I dont need anger managment classes ;) )

Anyhow return it now! and buy a Lexar like I did or a Simpletech which I have also.

Sandisk SD problems

So far I have read a lot about various storage/formatting problems with the Sandisk 256 SD.
The major problem I encounter is installing certain software onto the SD which then fails to work (heavy exceptions etc ...). If I install to main mem - then no problem. Sometimes copying the exe files back onto the SD card solves the problem, but not always.
Sadly, the only solution I can see is hanging this damn thing on the Xmas tree and buying something "professional" (Panasonic? Toshiba?)
Any suggestions?

I just sent back my second (256Meg) Sandisk MM card, and decided to give up on SD ans Sandisk and try the compact flash card (for now). I've ordered a Viking 256 Meg card.

If I need more or somethine else, I think I'll try a small capacity card and a different brand.

finally happened

I've been monitoring these SD card-not-working threads here and on the Dell site for a while and now, it finally happened. My 128 Mb Sandisk is not being recognized.
I'll review everyone's posts and see what other brand I can get.
This is so disappointing...

Try removing the SD card, then do a soft-reset, and then reinstall the card. That might help.

I just got another SanDisk 256mb card and the thing crapped out on me, serial # AR0304LR- which was tested by another Axim site memebr and it failed, however I have another SD card from SanDisk that I use ALOT and it has performed flawlessly for 5 months.

There has to be a fix for these crappy cards
