installing register software, map software

I am having trouble with two types of software installing in Axim.
First there is a simple Register software that can be used to change explorers reporting of what version it is. This register software makes it easy to reverse it and its free. Trouble is i can't get it to install, need help... The ms free maps software installs but doesn't run, I can't get that to work either. Does anyone have experience installing either one? Also with other maping software where do you install the maps, Mappolis does work yet it give me no options to put maps in. The folder is missing. I guess this is a 3 fold question but see if anyone has luck with this. I have an external serial gps unit that i would like to use in a pinch, when my laptop is not needed.

For Mapopolis you can just create a folder with Explorer and put your maps in it. Mapopolis will find all installed maps where ever you put them.
