Mad Problem after problem

I am really getting frustrated with my Axim. Okay, heres the deal. I got my Axim last week, and after a day of using it, it said the backup battery was low and i needed to change it. I knew this couldnt be true, so I searched the forums and saw that the battery seating could be the problem. So I popped out the battery and popped it back in, and it worked. I also put a piece of foam in the battery compartment so it would sit tightly, and I thought this would rememdy my problem. Wrong, it happened again, and I took the battery out and put it back in, and it would work. This keeps on happening, but now when it happens and the message pops up, I cant click on OK to make it go away, well I cant click on anything. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Right now, I cant get into my Axim because I cant click on the OK message. I even try doing a soft reset, and this doesnt even work. This happened to me yesterday, so I did a hard reset, hoping this would remedy my problem. Wrong again, the same problem occured this morning. I talked with DELL support, and they told me it could be the battery, which I know it isnt because I bought two new batteries and tried them. I called back, and they guy said there was a new Firmware revision that I could download within the next couple of days, but how am I supposed to download it if I cant even get into my main screen. I am going to try DELL support tommorrow, it would be really nice if they just would send me another one, but they keep saying its a software problem. I would like input from you guys on anything that I should try to get my Axim back to working condition without the battery warning popping up.

I also just tried something else. When I take the battery out all together. I get the message to pop up, but it always me to click on OK and I can use my Axim. So it may very well be a software problem, and I may have to wait until DELL puts the download on their website. Has anyone else had this problem before.

When I received my Ax and installed the backup battery I noticed that there was an oily film on the battery. I cleaned it off, and cleaned the contacts in the battery compartment as well. An oily film might be preventing proper electrical contact on your battery.
Sounds silly but it's worth a shot...

So what happened??

I have the same problem. I can press the screen after the warning message comes up (backup battery very low), but it is a pain - it just keeps coming back even if I reboot (soft), ROM reinstall and even replace the battery. Anyone managed to get DELL to help???

Other than the paper under the cover trick, you can also try lifting the little fingers at the bottom of the battery compartment a little to make sure they make solid contact with the backup battery. That, plus wiping off any oil on the battery face, has solved the problem for most folks.

Or just send it back, ask for a replacement. If you're still in 30 days call them right now.
