Button Mapping in WMP
I can't seem to map the dpad in wmp. When I select the function (such as volume up) then press the dpad 'up' to map it, the function list just scrolls up.
I have mapped all the other buttons with no problems, just having trouble getting the dpad mapped.
Any ideas?

dpad up and down is the same as your scroll on the side up and down. and if you have the dpad patch, pushing it in is the same as pushing in your scroll on the side too. it screwed me up when i was trying to map my buttons too, then i finally figured it out.

Just a wild guess, but if you soft reset the unit, then open WMP and try to map the D-pad, does it work then?

Nope, same thing. I can't figure it out.
I just got the unit yesturday, maybe a new driver in it?
The dpad and scroll button do what they are suppose to do, they scroll the selections on the 'Select Function' box. But will not map, even if I tap somewhere else then press the dpad...odd.

How about if you go to Start, Settings, Buttons and reassign the D-pad to something else first, or no assignment if possible.
Go back to WMP and see if it will map properly.
Close WMP dead and then reassign the normal function to the D-pad from the Buttons screen.

Unfortunately in settings/buttons there is no way to assign or unassign the dpad. The only buttons available are buttons 1,2,3,4 and record. On the 'Up/Down Contol' tab you can set the delay and repeat rate, but thats it.
Good idea though.

Well I gave up on trying to map the dpad in WMP.
I am using PocketMVP and I have all my button mapped including the dpad with no problems.
Button 1: Pause/Play
Button 2: Screen Off/On
Button 3: Previous Track
Button 4: Next Track
Dpad up: Volume up
Dpad dn: Volume Down
Thanks for the replies.
