Bad Bad Axim
After waiting the required three weeks and finally receiving my Axim 400, I charged it the recommended four hours and turned it on. First I got the vertical static lines across the screen then it displayed a blank screen. I did a soft then a hard reset and everything came back OK. I synced it to Outlook and added a few notes, than I got a blank screen again. After playing with it, the screen came back then showed an upside down and reversed image on the screen. If you held it upside down and looked in the mirror, it would read OK. Another hard reboot, looks Ok, decided to try using it without doing a sync, but after about ten minutes, the screen went blank again then came back upside down and backwards. Called tech support, was on hold for about five minutes, told the guy what was happening and he laughed! Said that he had never heard that one before and would not even attempt a "fix", then ordered a new one to be shipped out Monday, should be here Tuesday. It may take some persistance, but once you talk to the right people, they do try and make things right. Sorry for the long post, but just had to tell my story.

Two days later, my new Axim arrives, via FEDEX - no cost to me.
However, there is no mention of returning the old unit - just a complete new Axim, only without the cradle. I guess that unless requested to do so, I will keep the dead one for spare parts.
Anybody else received a replacement with no further instructions?:)

Don't they ask you for ur CC number for RMA's? And if you don't ship them back in time, they will charge you for the new unit? Just wondering whether Dell does the same with the Ax.
Cheers.

I used to get free stuff from Compaq all the time since they never asked for a credit card number. They'd send me the new hardware, and a few days later call and ask if I had sent back the 'defective' hardware. Of course, I'd say yes, then live happily with my new 60 gig hard drive or whatever else I needed.
I got a total of three 60 gig drives, one motherboard, a 1.3gig athlon, and two network cards. :hide:

If you don't return the unit in a reasonable time, they will charge the same CC you used for the first one, or the same account, or they will send a bill. They keep track...

Now I am wondering if I could file for a rebate on both of them since all they ask for on the rebate form is the packing slip? I now have two of them. I am sure that there will be a request for me to return the first one, sooner or later.

Out of the blue, Dell sent me two flat screen monitors. I held on to them until they called. I told them I sent them back and never heard from them again. Im still using them.:)

Now I have to send it back!
Whoops - I got an invoice from Dell today for $270 + tax, with the note "Please disregard if this item has been returned, otherwise . . . " Looks like I will have to send it back. Oh well, it was broke anyway.
