Stylus input quits responding

Ok gang, see if this has happened to you.
I turned my Axis on and the stylus wouldn't activate ANYWHERE on the screen. I tried a few soft resets to no avail. I also couldn't get to the "stylus recalibrate" because it wouldn't activate anything on the screen. I took off the screen protector, cleaned everything including under the edges. Nothing. I backed up everything and did a hard reset. After the "Re-calibration" everything is working fine. Is there another way to get to the stylus re-cal without having to do this? I would really hate to do another hard reset if this happens again. Any help is appreciated. Like I said, after the hard reset and re-cal, everything is fine.

Still LUV MY AXIM! :D

Press in the side scroll tab thing and push the power button ... quick like. This will bring up the align screen, but if the digitizer is not working, it may not respond here either.

Thanks!

I'll try that if it does it again.
It actually was responding BUT you had to press on the VERY bottom left of the screen and the Windows menu from the top would open but that's all that would happen.

You taught me a new trick. THANKS!

Watch that screen protector. If it slips under the edge of the screen cover and puts any pressure on the screen, the system will see that as a contact, not be able to determine what it is and will ignore your taps. Also, as you use the stylus, make sure you don't drag your fingers on the screen. Again, the system sees two places being tapped and won't respond.

Tried it

Took the screen protector off. After it sat for a while, it did it again. I pulled up the stylus cal and it wouldn't respond at all. I called Dell and they walked me through a hard reset even though I had already done one to get it to work. It worked again just like last time. It was off for an hour or so and it's not working again. There is no screen protector on. Something is goobery. I'm calling back, I have a case number, hopefully they'll just send me a new one. I'll miss my baby.

Still not really upset even. Stuff happens. Customer support was friendly enough. I'm kinda upset that they made me do a hard reset again but I understand that they have protocol software that steps them through things so they are just doing their job.

I'll just hope the next one works better. :)

Dell Forums

A similar problem was reported in the Dell forums. Turns out there was a software conflict with a theme switcher.

Thanks

Checked it out. Similar but not quite the same. All my icons are there and I have no theme switcher. I called Dell again and they are sending me another Ax. Hopefully it was just a dud. Thanks for the heads up though. I appreciate it.
