Has anyone else experienced charging issues with there batteries? I have an Axim X5 400, and I have it fully charged. I did not place it in the cradle for 2 days, and used the device for approximately for a total of 2 hours, and went to turn it on the other day, and it told me that the main battery was extremely low and was in the process of turning the unit off. Once off, I couldn't get the unit back on till I either placed it in the cradle or I put in my back up battery.

This is the only thing that I have experienced with my new device, so I'm rather pleased overall with it. Dell has done a phenominal job on this new device, and I can't wait to see if Dell comes out with an upgrade to this in the very near future.

Something most folks don't realize is that Pocket PCs such as iPAQs and the Axim don't ever really "turn off". What you're really doing is putting it into a sort of "sleep mode". That's the reason why you don't have to wait for the thing to boot up when you turn it back on. 2 hours of continuous use is about 50% of battery life (assuming you're using the battery it came with), so the remaining 2 days of off/sleep mode likely drained the remainder of the main battery power. That's why it's got the backup battery; if the main battery goes dead, the backup battery keeps the RAM refreshed so you don't loose your data. Thankfully, the backup battery (CR2032, if I remember correctly) is available just about anywhere and only costs a few bucks. I'm not sure how long it will last, though I haven't heard of anyone's backup going dead yet. Since all it would be doing is supplying power to memory, I'm guessing it'll last quite a while.
