ActiveSync and IR? No worky

Maybe I'm just dumb (i have read the sparse documentation that comes in the help files on my AXIM)....

but I'd like to be able to sync my Axim via IR to my laptop.

I've already created a relationship, and sync via the IR port. I've been able to pass files back and forth via IR, but when I tell the axim to connect via IR... it never does. Nor when i use the 'get connected' app in active sync with my axim within range will it ever see it.

What am i doing wrong?

You can pass files, so the IR is working.

On the desktop open the Connection Settings of Activesync and make sure the IR profile is correct (set which com port the IR is assuming).

Now, on the AX, start ActiveSync and tap "Connect via IR" and it should work.

Looks like I got it to work.

I've tried all of that a few times before. This time though specifically binding it to COM1 (instead of using the IR port, which would have made the most sense) did it... but ONLY when i hit the 'get connected' thingy which started searching for a device, but then told the AX to connect via IR.
