Hmm SD Memory disappears

My SD Memory keeps on disappearing and now I’m using 103 mb and it says I can’t even rename a file because there is not enough free disk space on this 256 mb card how can I fix this? thank you

Can you see the contents when you dock, and explore w/ Active Sync? I found a bunch of files listed as file fragments, something like .chk type, and just deleted them. I only had 22 of these files, 16kb each, but it had to be junk.

I too am have had the same problem. I was listening to mp3's when all the sudden the axim stopped playing and the song list was grayed out. I turned it off and back on again and it worked great. Its done that like 3 times. I havent lost anything yet, just my mind.

SD CARD

Brand new Ax 400. Brand new sd 256mg sandisk card. Spent 2.5 hours setting up software (about 40mg worth) Last program installing said not enough disk space. (Yet I really have 200mg left) Boy was I pssd. All programs dissapeared. Tried again happened again. 5 hours wasted. 3rd time I only load 35mg and is working fine. Problem is I bought a 256mg card but can only use 4omgs with no problems.

Hi

I'm having exactly the same problem too. I've had to format my card about 5 times in 2 weeks (StorageTools - www.softwinter.com). Its done it again today. I don't know whether its a problem with the 256Mb card, mine's a SanDisk too.

Damn frustrating though.

SD goes *poof*

Add me to the list of people suffering from SD memory lost syndrome

I have been using a 128Meg SanDisk SD card for 2 weeks and had no problems, and then tonight, while I was using 'Explore' window to view contents of my SD card, my files went *poof* Turning the Axim off then on prompts a message asking me to format my SD card.

I went ahead and formatted the sucker, then proceed to reinstall all the programs via active synch. Everything seems to be working fine after an hour, then *poof*, everything is gone again from the SD card. The ironic thing is, I just clipped the UPC symbol from the packing for rebate today, so now I can't return the product back to Circuit City. (Things that makes say 'hmmmm')

Now I am wondering if anyone has the same SD card problem with a non-SanDisk brand SD card.

I forgot to mention, my post above is about my Lexar SD card. Not a San Disk. Is this possibly a hardward issue that Dell needs to get involved with?

Gadgetdad, in your case your file was only temporary lost. In my case (and others with SanDisk), our data were peremently lost, and in most cases, the Axim will ask to format the SD card after the disk curruption occurs.

I formatted my 256Mb SanDisk card yesterday morning (FAT32). I tried to copy an albums worth of MP3's across using the Explore part of Active Sync. It all went wrong . . . . ended up having to format the card again. Once that had finished I tried copying the files in File Explorer, from the Shared Docs folder on my PC to the SD card using my D-Link wireless CF card . . . . worked a treat. I've now got 230Mb of MP3's on there without complaint (so far!!), there's no way I could have done that using ActiveSync.

Just an observation really . . . We'll see how long the data stays intact. I'll be steering clear of the ActiveSync - Explore function that's for sure !!

Cheers,

Dave

I heard something about the metallic labels on the SD card that were casing a short circuit that causes the loss of memory has any one tried this and been successful because the StorageTools don’t help at all. :crooked:
