Worried Freezes Up after Hard Reset

My X5 freezes up, shuts down for no apparent reason, won't sync with my laptop, and is basically useless at this point.

I've hard reset and have tried operating it with no cards in the expansion slots, but it is still having the same problems. It will operate okay for a few minutes after the hard reset but then the ghost reappears and starts wreaking havoc.

I had recently been using the device to listen to music in MP3 format. The music was stored on a ScanDisk 256MB SD card. I also downloaded NoteM and was using it at work to record statements, saving them as MP3's to a Kingston 256MB CF card.

I have been using the device to store contact information, the calendar to remind me of appointments and the NoteM recorder for statements. Seems to have worsened after installing NoteM, but my son's device with NoteM is still going strong. Mine is 400MHz while his is 300MHz. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Gheez all these x5 problems... crashing to such scary extents.

If you cant sync to your laptop then I guess you cant try to upgrade your rom then.. but maybe that would work. I say this because im pretty sure that although the ROM is almost immune to damage, there are instances where it can be changed an crash the hand held, I think an example of this is that windows media player update to a lower version causing problems.
Have you considered trying that bootloader thing put rom in CF card and hit that sequence of buttons?
