Exclamation Active sync troubles . . .

I haven't had any problems with active sync, and suddenly for no reason it is asking me to set up a partnership again. I didn't change the name of my Axim or anything, and if I try to set it up with the same name as my ax already has, it says that there is already a partnership with that name, please choose another. So why isn't my computer recognizing my Axim? Do I have to change the name and set up a new partnership?

Help! I haven't had any problems for a month, and I didn't change a thing! Ugh, microsoft.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a soft reset? Sometimes (often) that sorts out Activesync problems.

I have the same problem since a hard reset. I have tried re-installing the Active Sync software but so far I haven't gotten it to connect with my existing partnership name. Please let me know if you get any good ideas to try!

So here's what I did to fix it . . .

Well after a few days of not syncing, I was getting pretty frustrated. Then, this morning, my daughter logged on to her account in Windows XP, and my Ax started syncing with her account. So I don't know exactly how that happened, but I took advantage of the opportunity to do a full back-up. Then I deleted the partnership from her account. I logged out of her account, logged into my own. Tried to sync, and it told me the partnership already existed and to choose a new name. SO I removed my AX, deleted the partnership from my account, put the ax back int, and recreated the partnership. It seems to have worked fine, and is working now.

I had done many soft resets, but I had yet to reinstall active sync cause I was afraid I would mess something up especially cause I didn't have a recent full back-up anywhere.

So it looks like deleting the partnership from all the accounts on the computer seems to have worked. And I didn't have to reinstall anything.

I don't know what caused the problem in the first place, but hopefully it won't happen again!!

Hope that helps anybody else out there with a similar problem. Try just deleting the partnership (without deleting the files folder) and see if that works!

~Gretchen and a finally syned axim!!!

With your Axim not connected, open up ActiveSync and click on File Delete Partnership

not to confuse this anymore than it is but, has Biffo named his Axim? Is that why he might be getting a 'guest' partnership (?).

Renaming a partnership

What I have found out so far is a partnership is directly associated with the name of the Axim. So renaming a partnership means that the name of the Axim has to be renamed and a new partnership will need to be created.
