Hmm Real problems with hard buttons

Dear Dell Axim X5 Advanced community:

First Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2005 to all of you and your people, families, relatives, friends.

Briefly let me introduce myself, my name is Mendi Layton and I am the owner of a Pocket PC, Axim X5 Advanced from Dell® using ActiveSync from Microsoft® version 3.7.

I have enjoyed much my Pocket PC, specialty because it really is a working tool, also stress relief helper and a long list of etc.

My problem is actually two and let me explain to you why this is it. Not so long ago I start to notice that my Pocket PC (PPC) start to refuse to accept the inputs from the buttons, obey them, In other words. If you push the home button, for example, nothing happens, if you push any of the four (4) hard buttons in the bottom front panel of my PPC, nothing happens, no errors or warnings signs on the screens, nor even beeps or bells, nothing. More over, the jog button, which is on the left lateral side of my PPC, does not work as well, it doesn’t do anything. Now here is the most estrange thing here with my buttons. The power button ONLY and ONLY works to turn on the PPC, but it does not work at all for turning off (I have to turn my PPC off via software button).

Now I have a lot of programs, data, etc., already “embedded” in my PPC, also a lot of programs and stuff. And I know that if I do a HARD RESET it will probably solve the buttons problem, but it will erase all my data, programs and stuff. Now here is the main question, well, probably the only question:

Is there any thing that I could do, test, check, see, mark, unmark, select, deselect and a long list of etc’s, that you could kindly oriented me in order to see if this situation can be solve without getting such a tragic and radical solution like the infamous HARD RESET?

In advance I would like to thank you for the time you kindly took to read my email, thank you for trying to help me. In the meantime, I remain,

Cordially Yours,

Mr. Mendi Layton

Question Hardware buttons

I too, have a problem with those four buttons. I cannot use them any more to turn the Axim X5 on. Once it is on, they do work fine. My Axim is almost two years aold, so that may explain it, but still it is a problem.
