Can't connect my axim to my new Computer

I recently upgraded my computer, it works great nothing is wrong except that I can't get my axim to connect to it. I've browsed the forums and saw simular problems but nothing has helped me so far. I have installed active sync and outlook 2000 sr-1 from the dell cd but then when I connect my axim it says "usb device not reconized" and then unknown device is added to the device manager. I've tried pointing the "unknown device" to the dell usb drivers but windows wouldn't accept them. I've reinstalled activesync arround 3 times now twice from the cd once from the web. I've tried all of my 6 usb ports and then I tried through a usb hub for the heck of it. I'm stumpped.. It worked fine on my old computer.. I'm using windows XP Home Edition now before I was using Windows 2000. Any help is apperciated.

I have the same problem. I have Windows XP Pro Edition on my old pc and I can Activesync and Remote Access my OLD pc via Axim. On my new pc I have Windows XP HOME Edition and I can't do neither but I can browse my new pc files through Axim.

Any suggestions or just upgrade to Pro Edition?

That's wierd. I have Win XP pro using Office XP (yes Outlook XP w/ it) and I have no problems. However, at first I had to do something wierd to recognize it. I had my Axim on in the cradle and all I did was unplug the usb cord from the port, wait about 15-20 seconds then plugged it back it. All of a sudden, my axim got recognized. You may want to try that first. Other than that, I wish I can tell you how I resolved that problem. Maybe you have to update your USB drivers? I'm not to sure.

GEEZ. Sometimes it's just the most simplest of things.
Look at that. The cable.....

Out of curiousity...did the guy mention why the USB cable would go bad...that seems pretty strange. Is it a manufacturing defect or what? I have not had any problems with mine...yet...knocking on wood.

thanks

No he didn't tell me why it went bad, I didn't ask tho. I'm pretty sure that its just standard procedure to give out a new usb cable/cradle if something goes wrong.
