Battery down to 90% after 45 mins?

I have a two week old Axim 400mhz. I thought I was having problems with the main battery that came with the unit because I felt it was draining too quickly. Dell sent me a replacement battery and it arrived today.

I charged the replacement battery for 4 hours and installed it. I now have my Axim sitting in it's cradle without the power cable attached. The only program running is Activesynch. Screen brightness is zero.

After 45 minutes the battery reading on the replacement battery is down to 89%, this is about the same reading I got with the original battery. I don't think this is normal considering all the glowing reports about Axim battey life.

I also have Battery Pack 4.2 running.

I'm beginning to think I have a bad Axim.

Opinions?

Ok, let's do the math.

The battery is rated at 1440 mah. For most of us that lasts about 6.5 hours. Doing the math, the Ax uses about 220 ma of power.

So, after 1 hour it should be at about 1220 mah, or in percent, at (1220/1440)*100 or just under 85%. I'd say you are pretty close to average. You didn't mention what speed you have it set to, but with Activesync running and in the cradle, there is a draw for the communications signals, so I would think your experience is probably about right. You should get about 6.5-7 hours of use out of the Ax.

I just did a test to check, starting from a green charge light, pulled the plug and started WMP ... playing wma files for an hour with the screen disabled ... using the built-in speaker at about half volume. Ran the battery down to 91%.
Second hour using headphones close to max volume, screen still diabled, battery down to 78%. That's nine hours estimated at this rate.
Doing anything with the screen lit would be lower of course.

Been reading thru threads about battery issues, I had one incident where battery power just disappeared with out using Axim. But so far that has only happened once.

NEW ISSUE/QUESTION

I am using the free Launcher program I had 9 applicataions and recently I added 4 more, now my battery is draining faster.
I am using Wisbar and I always check it before shutting down to make sure nothing is running in the background. Has Launcher affected anyone's power consumption?

Another thing I notice when viewing pics in RESCO's pic view, battery is also draining faster. This is a problem I didn't have before. I have begun to track my usage and associated drainage.

I charge up every night, before on a average day of maybe 3-4 hours of use Charge went from 100% down to 65-75%, yesterday after same amount of use 32%-

Anyone else having fast power drainage like this??

I have my Axim set to Full power and the highist screen brightness, Why not! after about an hour my battery is down to about the same 80%. I am happy with that as I have it set to the most power using settings. It doesnt seem to suck as much power once it reaches the 80% either. I dont think I have ever used it to be lower than 50%. I have yet to ever have the backup battery issuse many other complain about either. mine has always shown 100% and I have had my Axim for about a month now.

How does your piece relate to the battery levels I posted earlier?
I tried to be specific so you could compare yours.
Do you charge until you see a green light or just 'till it says 100%?

Until light is green, usually Axim stays in its cradle for 2-3 hours after light is green.
