My Axim is not holding a charge for very long. Maybe I am doing something wrong...?

After fully charging the battery (it shows 100%), if I turn off the Axim (single quick press on the power button) and leave it overnight, the battery is completely drained the next morning and it seems to have been drawing on the backup battery as well. This has happened several time now. Any suggestions about what I should check on or do? Anyone else have similar problems?

Try to charge it for longer time - 3-4 hours.

Otherwise, looks like a bad battery, I would call Dell for replacement.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been charging for at least 4 hours each time (including the initial 4-hours called for before first using the Axim). If I don't find that I am making some kind of newbie mistake turning it off or having a setting wrong, I will contact Dell Tech support and start working on getting a replacement for my battery!

By the way, this is a wonderful site for learning more about the Axim! Kudos and thanks go to the organizers and moderators!

Do you have alarms set-up or thurned on? How Bright is the display settings for on Battery Power. I have noticed that when you have an alarm set the power comes on and it sounds an alarm. If your Volume is Way up and the screen is real bright and the alarm is set for 2:00am or something silly It could drain the battery. The alarm will run for a while and then shut off or a while and so on. The speaker is small and it certainly would ever wake me up, so I will leave it off. But it no longer mysteriously just comes on anymore.

Hope this helps!

After your "quick press" look at the screen under a bright light. If it's really off, the screen will be blank. If it's still on, just with the screen unlit, the words will still be visible. I don't think this is it, but it's worth checking. Sounds like either an app that starts the machine in the night, or a bad battery.

The screen dim is when you press and hold for like 3-5 sec, make sure you ARE in fact quick pressing or it will set it up to be on full dim (no backlight).

Go to "Start / Settings" and then click on the "System" tab at the bottom. And then click on "Brightness" and make sure the bar isnt all the way to the left.

Just a thoguht banked off 'JakeRich'.
