Brightness problems

Since yesterday, when I press the power button to turn on my Axim, it cuts on at the lowest brightness level every time, instead of at the higher brightness level I have selected in the Brightness settings. I have to hit the power button again for the Axim to go to the preset brightness level. I've checked the brightness settings for battery power and everything is not checked. Also, when I press the power real quickly, it will turn off all the way, but if I hold it down for a second or more, it will go back to the lowest brightness setting. This is frustrating since I've had my Axim for a month and everything was fine till yesterday.

User guide, page 12. The on/off button has two functions. A quick press is on/off, a longer press is bright/dim. If it's off and you do a long press, it comes on dim. Just quick click it and it'll come on bright.

smithwr3,

Your comment that everything is not checked may be your problem. Go to the brightness screen and select the battery power tab at the bottom. Make sure the "light the display if a button is pressed or the screen is tapped". If this is not selected the device will turn on dim. Because, believe it or not, Dell considers the power button to be a button.

Hope this helps.

that's true. I had the same probelm at first, but I guess it does make sense since they don't call it a power button for nothing.

Which worked? Button clicking or the setting or both?
