irda doesn't work

i have a problem with irda if i try connect to laptop i got message on my axim that connection is established but my laptop doesn't detected any irda devices. it's means that irda could receive, but can't send. I wonder if anyone met with similiar problem.
i contacted with dell support, i got advice to make hard reset, but it didn't solved my problem.

[I know that I had to go to Control Panel, Wireless Link and uncheck "Use Wireless Link to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer" in order to use ActiveSync over infrared. Maybe that will correct your problem as well.

I recently had to resort to synching via IR. Before the laptop would recognize my Axim, I had to go into the 'Connection Settings' (under the File menu)in ActiveSync and check the box to allow IR connection. The I went thru the 'Get Connected' steps and had it search for devices on the various ports. Once I did that (and held the Axim very close to the IR window on the laptop), the laptop could communicate with the Axim.

Also, on some laptops, you have to manually enable the IR sensor before it will work.
