Dell Fixing Infrared Beaming Problem

Hello Folks,

(Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum the first time.) Please see the below message from Rollie, the moderator for the Dell Axim Forum on Dell's website:

All,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Dell recognizes that many Axim users are experiencing problems with Infrared. I have just received information that we are working on a Flash ROM update that will address Infrared issues. It is expected to be ready in the month of April, but I do not have an exact.

Thank you for supplying us with information about the problem through the forum, and thank you for your patience.

If this truly happens it will be a wonderful thing!!! Keep your fingers crossed... If you haven't read the thread on this yet go to:

Good deal! Thanks for the update.

There are few things more frusterating than spending 10 minutes to get 1 stupid beamed contact to connect!

If Dell is working on this IR problem. Chances are we'll see a fix by mid April... at the earliest.

Hopefully it is not a hardware issue of being flat out underpowered.

i doubt the remote control use for the axim will get any better with just a software update.

According to Chris's review of the X3, the IR has been dramatically improved on the X3.

Actually, WM2003 on my last X5 fixed all the IR to Palm problems I was having. Of course, it is still not a consumer IR. The X3i seems to beam just fine (and I think it has dual IR types)

I've never had problems with the IR on my X5. I use it for AS on a regular basis and also transfer files between PC to PPC and transfer other information between PPC - PPC and PC - Palm. It's always been problem free.

ive never had probs with mine at all and their is an individual fix for that palm beaming problem. The only prob i have is the crappy range and i doubt they can fix it i think its the hardware.

Mad Infrared gone after PPC2003 upgrade

I upgraded my Axim x5 to PPC2003 and infrared doesn't seem to be an option anymore. There is no reference to infrared anywhere on the device. I tried to run the only file that I could find on the Dell site and got the following error. Any ideas???
