When I push the button to start recording I get this pop-up error message:

Error opening the shortcut of locating the target filename

Anyone have a clue as to how to fix this? :o

Well, the only thing that i can think of is checking in the "buttons" section under the settings menu and make sure that the target of the record button is the right application. Other people might know more.

What happens if you would start new note (New -> Note) and tap on little cassette recorder icon at the bottom, then trying to record a voice note?

The recording funtion works fine doing it this way. I just can't start a recording using the external button.

If the button mapping is correct, then your unit might need a soft-reset. Please remember that the record button is some-what recessed also. Other users have had the same problem because the button is getting stuck under the rubber (but that may not be the problem in this case). Please also make sure you have enought free space (check the memory slider) to start a recording as well.
