Worried My Axim is being sent to purgatory..

*Sigh*

I am sending my Axim to purgatory. Hopefully, Dell Gods will revive her and give one more chance to serve another owner...

Here is what happened...

Yesterday, I started to notice that my screen flickers a lot when I was outside. It looked fine if I was inside. So I decided to call Dell to ask what's going on... Since I need my service tag number to talk to the tech support, I removed my battery and wrote down my service tag number quickly and popped back the battery.

As soon as I put my battery back, Axim decided to forget about all the good and bad memories she had with me past 3+ months. She couldn't do it by herself. So she asked my if I wanted to do it for her (I got press X to erase or Y to cancel messge). Well, of course I couldn't let her do that... So I told her to forget about it... But.. I think she thought that I told her to forget about the memories not the idea of doing that...

.........

Well anyway... I called Dell and told them about my screen problem as well as the hard-reset issue... and they are sending me the replacement... Hopefully, I will get updated chip...

Screen flickering! That's good!!! Mine does that too, but I always thought it was normal. Strange the way it's worse in sunlight ... maybe an artifact of reduced pupil size in your eyeballs. Indoors, I only notice it when moving the unit in front of my gaze, then it settels down.
It's probably got a 15 Hz refresh rate.

Did you see the one about the static spark??

Yeah... I've read that thread... that's another strange thing... Probably the USB connection got shorted... I've had a few incidents where I felt the spark from my USB cable for other devices...

Bummer on the Ax. How could she be so unfaithful!

I noted yesterday the flickering outside. It was the first time we've really had a bright sunny day and I was walking along looking at it and noted the flickering. When I stopped walking, the flickering stopped. Must be the screen refresh rate as Mike C said. It's not unusable, or even interfering, but you can see it.

My unit was flickering a lot while I was standing still. I knew that it shows scanlines when I move ... but yesterday's flickering was very bad... It looked like the bottom of my screen was shaking or something...

Anyway... I recevied my unit an hour ago... :D Next day shipping!! It's C1 unit...
