Was the audio hiss problem ever resolved?

Has anyone found a workaround for the audio hiss on PPC2003? I did some searching but those were mostly old posts and well I can hope time has produced some results.

One thing I have learned was dont compare. Once you compare the audio of one mp3 file on the Axim and the same mp3 on a mp3 player.... it will just make you feel bad.

If you go to dells website you can find an update patch there.

If you still can't find it I could post the file on my webspace for you - providing this doesn't breach dells copyright (file is free so should be OK)

That patch doesn't make a difference

The only resolution I use is to buy a volume limiter for your headphones...check my sig... Then have the volume up high on your Axim...and lower with your limiter...much better!

Hi, all, i suddenly found out the sound hiss problem was gone as if it never happened. I admit that I DID met sound hiss problem in ppc2003 before. But can't even simulate the previous problem. don't know why.

or does the problem depends on the quality of the song/mp3 ? Can anyone send me a song on which you had the audio hiss problem ? you can send email to zorkee@yahoo.com

Just listen to any music thats fairly quiet.. um classical music or something.. then compare the same file on something that can output soudn better like a mp3 player.

(took the better approach to fix it.. x50v!)

Solution

DO NOT USE 16 ohm headphones use 32 ohm (or above) instead

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=101075

That was working im my case. Good luck.

you're wrong. I used a pair of 42 ohm earbuds and there's still hiss. The problem is that good earbuds are too sensitive. Really cheap ones, even ones with low resistance, do not hiss at all.

I have the hiss through a tape adapter but I do not know what the resistance is across the coil. I try to turn up the sound higher and the tape deck lower.

X5 A05 2003

Oh and what do you do file the patch file? It doesn't extract anything on my laptop and execute on the X5.

I have the hiss problem with both 32 ohm Sennheiser MX-400 and with cheapy $6 maxell ones.

However, I don't have any problems with some old Koss earbuds.
