ActiveSync/USB and connections
I have had my axim for about 5 days. When I try to import music files while in the cradle the connection always crashes. This also happens when I am moving some other large files. But when I import databases it does not crash (I imported a 10 MB database). When I tried to load music files from my wife's computer it worked fine. (I have an inspiron 8000 and she has an inspiron 7000). I thougth my usb port was going bad, because my usb printer stopped working on it. But I can transfer music files to my cf card using a reader without any problems. Any ideas? I have upgraded the laptop's bios file and reloaded the usb root hub just to see if that would help, but it hasn't seemed to.

Two things: 1. Activesync has a but that causes problems with files over 16 Mbytes. It's a known bug in Activesync for which MS has no fix.
2. USB. You might want to check that port. If it's flaky at all, it could be losing connectivity. The fact that you had printer problems points to a problem, even if it has disappeared for now. I'd spend the $20 to get a new USB card for the PC and connect the Ax cradle to that. Most folks who have done that have had no further problems with connectivity. | |||||
