Yet another D-Pad Question

Okay just got my axim last week.. I heard people complain about the d-pad being mushy before.. well is it suppose to be?

or is it suppsoe to be stiff like a real d-pad on an actual controller like the snes where it clicks when u move it down ?

Cuz mines fairly mushy

mines really mushy and I'm afraid to play games where you have to use the d-pad. I don't think it was made to be pressed so many times in a row.

Good Pez, I'ts nice to know I'm not alone. As for as how much the screen can take I'm still not sure about that. I mean I don't do alot of writing on it just tap, tap, tap and it takes such a lite tap I can't see it getting scratch. I'v been playing KSE Backgammon on it and have not seen any scratchs. I don't use a screen protector, but mite get one just to be safe.

I use my d-pad for playing spy hunter with PocketNester :-D The only prob I have with it is, sometime the right side contacts get stuck inside. For instance, I'll be pressing the right side, try to go over to the left, and the car keeps going right. I have to press the right side again to clear it. This become extremely annoying, but oh well. Maybe there's a patch.

Did you give Dell a call and see about a replacement? I'm thinking of doing the same thing and I'll let you be the guinea pig.

Besides that, I love the Axim

I just called Dell and they agreed to send me a replacement (my Axim is 2 months old) because I told them that since I got it the D-Pad has been wobbly and hard to use. I told them I hadn't called before since I didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be like that (true, I realized that from this thread here).

They tried to get me to do a soft reset and a hard reset, but I told them I had done that (which I had though for other reasons). They told me to apply the D-Pad patch, but I truthfully told them I had done that too. Then they said they send me a replacement. I should receive it Friday or Monday.

Beware the "refurbished units" replacement trick. Dell has been known to replace almost brand new units with refurbished ones. I don't know whether that's good or bad. Just letting you know.

Hmm I was denied!

My D-pad sux bad and I just got off the phone with Dell and the guy insisted that it was supposed to be like that and he had not had many calls about it. Was I talking to one of the interns? How'd you guys get a replacement. Thanks. :crooked:
