Internet Connection Problem

I have posted this query in the General Forum for few days, but nobody can help me, so I put it here. Hopefully some real experts can help.

I cannot connect my X5 through the Cradle to the Internet. My settings are:

X5: Start-Settings-Connections-Connections: Internet, Internet, Work.

ASync: Tools-Options-Rules-Passthrough: Connection: Work

I have tried to change all settings to Internet, but it is not possible to change the last option on X5 from Work to Internet, the X5 automatically rejected it and changed back to Work.

Can anyone of you please educate me how I can connect to Internet through the Cradle? If possible can you please help specifying the details of each setting as i am new to my X5.

Try setting all three connections to work. I am not sure why, but I read this in another forum somewhere and it worked for me.;)

make sure you are connected to your ISP throught the PC you are syncing with before you attempt to browse (on the Axim)

sorry, should have mentioned only use the "Internet setting" if you are connecting thru modem. the work setting should be used as pass through using the PC connection (to your ISP) I've had this problem before

I have tried all different combinations, but it does not work. Don't know whether it is a problem if my PC is not defaulted with IE as the Internet browser, i am using netscape.

Make sure that you turned off the firewall. Better shut it down or even uninstall. This is usually the most frequent reason.

I have a window me with broadband connection. My ISP does not impose any proxy server, as long as I plug into their socket I can then access to internet without any setting. The only control i have is the Norton anti-virus that I set up to stop virus from browing thur internet.

I even turn off the norton anti-virus, and the result is the same. The various combinations I have tried before, sometime i got the error mesasge of 'Setting error' and suggest me to modify the setting, sometimes I got the error message of 'The page you are looking for cannot be found'. However, I still can use the Avantgo to download my newspaper, what is wrong with my X5? I even plan to hard-reset the machine as many of my friends don't have any problem to access internet via their x5.

Mad

I have hard-reset my X5 and upgraded the handheld to A02. Still I encountered the same problem: I cannot connect to the internet with my X5 on cradle. However, I still can download newspaper from Avantgo. I saw that there are 140+ reads on this post, but still no solutions. Is this a real problem for X5? Can someone really help???? In fact I have posted the same problem in the General Axim Talk forum, there were some suggestions but still no breakthrough.

I guess this forum is supported by technical experts, can someone really offer assistance?

While I'm sure it is no relief to you, at least you aren't alone. I can't seem to manage an internet connection via cradle either.

I'm in the Same Boat

I find I'm in the same situation. I can sync my Outlook and my Avantgo etc but I'm unable to connect when i need the internet connection. In particular, I'm trying to use a product called Pocket Blog which requires a connection to the internet. When I try to use it I get an error message that tells me the connection is not present then it gives me the local loopback for my device. I'm not sure where its getting that setting from and I have no idea if I should be looking to change it or not.

Any ideas? Do I need to make some config change to "see" the internet with the Axim? I have no modem or wireless connection, I assumed I could use the cradle connection.

My connection is via the sync cradle (USB) and my pc connects to a linksys router serving as a dhcp server.

Not sure if this would help..
But often I would get a breif spinning E when I try to connect to a website. So it would never get anywhere.

Previously a hard reset would fix it, but I found it too destructive. So I asked around and learnt that one posible fix is to go to the pocketpc windows and run the welcome program. It would give you the screen tap thing and all that and then it usually works again dont know what it does, but it helps.

Hopefully this would help, and yes I also use the cradle and a targus dial up modem to connect and get these problems.
